The finished rag rug is a pretty accent for high-traffic areas in your home.

Rag rugs are simple to make, very sturdy, and the scrappy mix of colors makes them beautiful. If you don't have many fabric scraps on hand, look in your local thrift store for some old sheets, which yield lots of rug material. This design, which measures 19 inches by 29 inches, is crocheted with several fabrics to create vertical stripes....simple tutorial over at eHow.

  1. I've been saving my scraps along with my moms and one of my neighbors scraps for projects just like this. I just have one question. If I was to throw one of these rugs in the washer would anything happen? I have kids and two dogs and would hate for the rug to turn into a frayed mess. Any advice would be appreciated. Absolutely love this blog. Thank you!
