I know we don't really want to use our prized Jelly Rolls to put on the floor, but this is a cute rug. You could also just use scraps up on this rug. Maybe use an ugly jelly roll? Is there such a thing as an ugly jelly roll? Do you have any of those?
When I saw these first time my reaction was just indignation. It's like these new ''brilliant'' ideas they try to sell lately can be described as ''hey, here's another way to waste your fabric! yay'' ...
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm all for common sense. and rugs should be made from old or damaged cloths, not brand new cotton with beautiful prints to which this project doesn't do justice at all.
But if some people like being wasteful that's their right
Well aren't you the downer Lily. I think this is a great project and would love to do one of these with a gorgeous jelly roll. I would use it as a table topper!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea Karen, they would look great used as a table topper.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I think all three of you have the right of it. To me, it isn't an economical use of expensive fabric. Now making it with beautiful thrifted fabric as a large cloth trivet for the table would be very practical. If I was making it as a rug I would probably use old sheets and pillowcases.
ReplyDeleteIt's called tolerance and open-mindedness, hearing someone's opinion without judging them in return and saying something mean and unjust.
ReplyDeletetime to be honest and admit that society has become all about waste and pollution, and stop defending it with pretty words.
Lily, you could make this rug using old clothing, scraps or even t-shirts. Whatever you feel comfortable using.
