Cottonreel has what looks like a nifty sewing bag that you can carry your rulers, and more in when you are going to class or retreat. Seems easy enough to follow the instructions.

Hexagon Sewing Caddy

Connecting Threads has a nice easy sewing caddy to make up using hexagons that are paper pieced on the front. Definately a must do.

Sew Mama has a Pincushion/Sewing Organiser tutorial on her blog that looks nice and easy. A great idea to keep your scissors, thread unpicker, pins etc together as well as a threadcatcher to throw those loose threads into. Sew Mama has lots of tutorials so scout around her blog and see what you come up with.
